The Laurel Centre is on a journey of renewal. We are committed to: creating access with those who have been historically underserved and underrepresented by our agency; building alignment with the calls to action included in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission: and embracing the call for social change from the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Inquiry (2SMMIWG).

With the support of the Board of Directors, we have developed an Anti-Oppressive Practice Committee to ensure that The Laurel Centre will be a safe place for all who engage within our agency. The committee is examining training, policies and practices, communications and our clinical model for different approaches to treatment.

We cannot achieve equity and anti-oppressive practices without personal reflection, unlearning behaviours and gaining empathy for oppressed members of our community. We will walk this path forward with humility and through establishing authentic connections and partnerships.
